In July my son and I took an overnight trip to check out Lexington and Port Sanilac, places in Michigan we’d never been.
Each of those towns has a jetty outside the marina. Even though the days were gray we had a lot of fun eating ice cream and battling the wind walking out on the jettys. It wasn’t dreary despite the coloring; it was one of those overcast sunny days that hints of fall to come.
I love the feeling of this photo. When I took it, Little Mister was a few months from turning 13. The soft clouds and hard rock; the water that isn’t really calm or really wavy; the stance of being prepared to either sit or jump up: this might just sum up the year ahead.
